Engine Swap ... 410 Merc. Out / 500 Cadillac In ...

I have been duly admonished for posting such filth.

Please accept my apologies for mentioning another
manufacturer in my posting.

HELL NO We don't consider nor talk about putting caddy engines in Ford trucks on this site.

If that is what you are wanting to do please take it to another site. Some of these johnny come latelys will be all protesting but we didn't help build this in the #1 Ford Truck site with that.

There are plenty direct bolt up C6s that will shift your 410 just fine.

Good day sir,

John

There COULD have been one more option ...

You COULD have just PM'd me with your Rant, but chose to
flex your muscles in public ... VERY POOR TASTE, indeed.

You, Sir, need a lesson in etiquette ... and yes, I am sorry for
posting something so distasteful on this forum and it won't
happen again.

There couldn't be any possible advantage to pulling out a 410, and getting a Caddy 500, a transmission, and making mounts for it all. What's the gain?.....30 pounds of torque, plus the truck wont be able to be sold to just any Ford truck guy.

Well I have never owned a 410, but have had 472s and 500s in chebby pickups years ago. They are stought motors right out of the box huge advantage over a big block.

you do that caddy swap and send the 410 my way. hehehe I'll take a 410 over a caddy boat anchor any day. seriously tho the 410 with a mild cam in it will shred rather large tires any day of the week.

As long as you are using them in chebby trucks that is fine, but we have always pulled a hard line here talking about swapping into Ford trucks.

We feel that is why this site is the mother church for Ford trucks. You get the truth here not BS.

I've gotta agree nothing pisses me off more than ruining a ford by putting a garbage motors product in it. You want a Crapvrolet engine get a Damn GM turd to go with it. seeing a damn 350 in a mustang makes me think strongly about commiting a homicide

That's what I was wondering. Why would anyone post something like that on a Fords only site? We would complain less if you would have mentioned putting in an IH 392.

I'm waiting for someone to have a 5-year-old-kid-style temper tantrum at the guy who wants to put a Cummins in his truck. For the record, let the guy put whatever motor he wants in his Ford truck. If everyone is so concerned about these trucks, they'd better damn well be going out and buying up and saving every one of the thousands that are sitting around rusting in to the ground in junkyards and farmers' fields. 'Least the guy is keeping one on the road.

I was hard nosed at one time about keeping a Ford truck all Ford. But it is the owners truck and he can do what he wants with it. If ya wanna rant, go to the 1948-1960 forum and do a survey on how many owners have a SBC in their ride. I bet there are more "foreign" engines between the fenders than original Ford engines!!

Things have a way of changing over time. What John says may once have been FTE policy, but it no longer is and is merely his own opinion, though obviously shared by some. Yes, this is a Ford truck site, and we talk about and love our Ford trucks. But how a person chooses to power his truck is his own business, and as far as I'm concerned, in this forum, nobody has any business slamming someone for it. That level of close-mindedness is what drives users away. If you're not interested in what someone's doing with their truck, whether it be transplanting a non-Ford engine, slamming the truck into the weeds or lifting it to the sky or what have you, then simply hit the back button and find another thread that has something more in line with your personal taste in the thread title. There's no need to go off on a guy simply because you don't like his ideas or modifications.

I knew a guy years ago who put Caddy 502 (or whatever they are) engines in Bumpsides. While it certainly wouldn't have been my personal choice, it still made for a pretty nice swap he and did an admirable job of making it all work. I'm no fan of GM products myself, but some folks are. If that's what they want to do, it's up to them. If you don't like it, just shut the hell up and back away...

On the other hand, I'm preparing to put a Cummins in my bumpside. You guys gonna crap all over me now for choosing a non-Ford engine to swap into my truck?
