I had my low fuel light come on last week and I was about 15-20miles away from the normal cheaper gas station I use all the time. I dropped $5.50 in the tank at $1.96 with that whole round up thing. then drove the 15-20 miles to the other station. it took about $45 dollars at $1.80 to fill I had just read that I had a 30 gallon tank and I was looking for it to go closer to 30 but it stopped at about 25 gallons.
The Low Fuel warning on my '04 EB comes on at "50 Miles to empty" so, depending on the gas mileage I'm getting at the time, there could be anywhere from 3-5 gallons left in the tank.
Open your Owner's Manual and look up the fuel tank capacity.
Do the math. (Capacity - Fillup = Reserve)
You will have several gallons, anywhere from 2-5 depending on how your specific truck's tank was assembled.

One thing to remember though is that even though your tank may be listed as 30 gallons, or whatever, there is always some unusable space in the tank that either can't be filled or can't be drawn out. For example my wrangler has a 20 tank. Once I drove it until it would sputter and die unless I was careful with it. When I filled up at the station it only took 18 gallons. So either there is a two gallon "air space" at the top of the tank that can't be filled, or there is two gallons of unusable gas in the bottom of the tank that the pickup can't reach. Either way it will screw up your calculation above.
