Hi, I was wondering what others think is a good size for tires on my truck. I just purchased a set of 15x8.5 aluminim rims. I am looking for a very sporty wide tire street look, but I dont want my truck to look like a low rider. I am either looking at 255/60/15 or 275/60/15. or i will consider any other size that looks good. I would appreciate your thoughts.
Thanks
look at my maroon truck in my gallery (not the crew cab) I am running 255/60/15 with raised white letters. that is on a 15X8 rim. I would think that a much wider tire would need a MUCH wider rim.
I run 8" rims with 275/60/15 BFG T/A's. Looks good, rides nice and still gets around in the winter(a good limited slip helps too). They are around 29" tall and 10" wide. With a 225/70 up front I think it gives the truck a nice stance.
These trucks tend to have wide track front ends and if you put same size tires on both ends, the fronts tend to stick out more. This is only real noticable with big 60's at both ends.
My vote is for 275/60-15's. Ran them on a '67 F100 on 15x8's and they looked good. I'd run something smaller on the front though to give it a more muscular look.
I have 315/70/15 on the back of my truck on 8.5 inch wheels for street use it's a really tall tire I don't like it that tall but I neeeded street tires and got them cheap (I also have 4.56 gears) and run 29x13.5 slicks for the track. There are some pics of the tires in my gallery.
How about 15x14 rims with tires ( 16 inches Wide ) Its in my gallery its now
my daughters truck, I have my dads old 65 step side and have aready moved
the leaf springs ( Inside ) the frame,to allow room for the huge meats Just as I did on the 77 years ago! ( You got to love the Pro-Street Look! )

I went to one of my friends dad's tire shop and they said that the 275/60/15's might not fit on my truck. I totally disagree, you guy's had stock suspension right?
1967 F-250 4x4 - I just bought new 15x12 Unique rims and put 33x12.5x15's on them....it's $1100 worth of wheels, but everyone thinks my bucket is baddass now!
I am running wheel vintiques steelies on my 71 shorty, 15X7 up front, 15X8.5 in back (4 inches backspace) w/hi-po fairlane dog dishes. I have a Kumho 275 60's in back they measure 29X10.50, fit nice and look pretty good.
