drain it and refill it with clean ole diesel and nothing else, unless you wanna run a fuel additive made for diesel fuel, stanadyne is my reccomendation on that.
Good call monsterbaby. Somehow I must have TOTALY missed that . I think jake might have too.
Kinda a crappy deal that the gas station wont take the blame for it, but my experience with full service gas stations were all lil mom and pop stations and they all went out of bussiness years ago, so the guy prolly doesnt even have enough money to take the blame and pay for the injectors. I guess I would be ****ed. but then that would just give me a reason to put some swamps in. all I think I would ask for and expect to get is an honest apolagy. but I doubt there is such a thing anymore. kind sound like your S.O.L.
First off NEVER put atf in your tanks. very acidic, full of zinc and other heavy metals, not good on injectors, I have a link if anyone is interested. diesel has been low sulfer for as long as the PSD has been out so the lack of lubrication isn't an issue if thats the reason your using atf as an addative.

I would like to see that link. I just got my first diesel, and I was told by an old timer to run some ATF in the tank every now and then as an additive to keep the injectors clean. He said he's been doing it for years. You know how we get told so many things, you have to figure out what is legit.
I would go to a ford dealer explain what happened and have the service manager or ford motor write a letter about what could happen in this situation, then take it to legal if the fuel station won't make good.

The most important part is the last post. explains the chemical makeup of ATF. and its an all around interesting thread. but the last one is the make or break for most people. https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/s...light=oil+fuel+
A buddy of mine was told by a cummins mechanicl to run used motor oil in his. I almost crapped myself when he whips out two gallons of used oil from his dads tractor and starts dumping it in . the only good addative is a real diesel addative.

I personally will not do it but we have a company here in town that does exactly that they put thier used oil from the trucks into thier own fuel and run it, and out of 150 trucks last I heard over 30 (and increasing almost weekly) have better than 1mil on the engines and several are well over 1.5million miles so it can't be all bad.
I will never do it either. but my new found interest in the WVO convertions cant be that much different then running straight oil. I will never run used oil, think of all the crap in there. proly does a wonder on injectors. Different strokes for different folks i guess.
i JUST BOUGHT MY HUSBAND A GEORGOUS 2005 F 350 DUELLY WITH 49,000 MILES ON IT 2 WEEKS AGO. He went on Christmas eve to top it off At the station by our house, pumps it for you.well guess what the idiot put in gasoline instead of deisel. it was l was less than a gallon when he realized what he did. Well, The company is paying for the draining of the fuel tank and lines and filter and refilling the tank. What was even better the kid that was the attendent is in the fire dept. with my husband. Did not make a nice Christmas but could have been worse.
if u ever pay attention to a old dump truck with a old school driver... look at the stack. if the end is burnt out and all jagged... he most likley runs a little gas in the tank.
We use to burn a little gas in the old 71 series detroits years ago.But an inframe was $30 a hole (if you didn't damage the head) and about a days work
