I'm an F-series guy, but my son had some troubles with his 93 B2600. I had to replace a hose on his truck that went uderneath the intake. To get at it, I had to temp. move an assembly that was mounted on the vaccuum canister. There are 2 electric powered vac control modules. Well, when I went to move them, I had to unhook a vac line from the canister.... and ofcourse I broke the brittle plastic on the control module where the vac line hooked on.
This module is Mazda part # 18-740E.
What is the purpose if this module? Currently the vac lines are bypassing it and everything seems fine and my son says the truck starts better.
I found some info on the net. The part is a "Purge Control Solenoid Valve". After looking again, it wasn't the vacuum canister - it was the carbon canister that it hooked to. The dealer is the only place I found and the part new ($70)... so I went to the junkyard and got it for $2. I don't think it really does much - the valve is open anytime the truck's engine is at operating temp so I probably could have bypassed it with little or no difference.
The truck is all put back together and running better than before (found some vac leaks!)
