remove cruise control
I don't plan on doing much, if any, cruising with this truck. Even if I do, I almost never use cruise control in my car even on long trips. Heck, if the speedometer is correct 25mph terrifies me in this almost as much as 100 does in my car (in a good way I suppose but this truck is freaking huge)... lol
There's a module sorta bolted to the passenger front wheel well, with a wire that at some point, I think, went to the throttle bracket and another vac line "T"d into the brake booster vac line that I'd at least like to get rid of so the brake booster is the only thing on the line. I don't know what connects the module in the engine bay to the switch that looks added randomly to the turn signal switch.
Are there any problems with removing CC or something that's easy to miss when taking out?

Only 1975/77's have a specific Cruise Control turn signal switch.
There are three turn signal switches used in 1978/79, one specific with tilt wheeL, one for M/T, one for A/T. ALL are still available from Ford.
That module is the Cruise Control amplifier: F58Z9D843AA. It's EZ to find, considering that it's still available from Ford, fits a gazillion cars and trucks from 1974 thru 1996.
Cruise Control is a desireable and rare option in these trucks. Leave it in there. If it ain't broke, don't mess with it.
btw: Have you checked to see if you have a tilt wheel? 1978/79: Usually...when Cruise Control is present, the tilt wheel feature is too.
It operates off the turn signal handle...press it forward = BOING!
It's "broken" anyway. Not connected and it's just sitting on top of the driver side wheel well (whichever side is in front of the driver, notice I said passenger side in my original post)
). If it makes the truck more valuable I'll try to get it working, but I personally don't like it and most likely will never use it. Dunno if the wheel tilts, I've just moved the turn signal arm to test the blinkers so far. Sounds like it should be tilt, that's a nice feature.

Note; contact me by PM not through this thread, as it frowned upon.
Also, my column doesn't tilt. Kinda feels like there's a joint in there that should let it but the turn signal lever doesn't push towards the center of the column, or pull towards the wheel, or push towards the dash/gauges. Just up for turning right and down for turning left.
So unless you live where these vehicles rust out after only few years, a local wrecking yard will prolly have one or more of these cars.
Prolly 95% of the Lincoln's, 80-85% of the Bird's have Cruise. You can get an amplifier while you're at it.
