Snow Plow Mounting Bracket Question

A friend of mine has a complete snow plow setup for an early eighties Bronco. I was wondering if the bracketry to mount the plow will fit my 91 F-250 4X4 4.9 5spd? Not sure what brand or anything. I recognize this prolly isn't the motor for the ultimate plow vehicle but it would sure be easier than shoveling the driveway (kinda long... asphalted). Any input would be appreciated. Thanx BTV

Snow Plow Mounting Bracket Question

Bob, To the best of my knowledge it should mount up. You may need to adjust or fabricate the mountings for the bumper. Knowing the brand of plow would help out a little but they are pretty much the same when installation comes into play. I feel that it should not be a big problem at all. Your truck should not have any problem with a plow setup. I have changed several rigs from one complete different truck to another. Good luck.

Snow Plow Mounting Bracket Question

Thanx Jake..... My concern was the idea the bracketry was developed like 10 years before my F-250 was built; that doesn't matter?

Snow Plow Mounting Bracket Question

Bob, The frame of your Bronco vs. F-250 may vary a little but the basic measurements of the two vehicles should be similar enough to make the swap. You may have to make minor adjustments to the plow bracket but nothing too serious. I do know that the Meyer and Western plow brackets are very basic setups. Some new plows use the exact same bracket today as they did 20 years ago. One other thing that you may take into consideration is purchasing an updated bracket. The type that uses a receiver tube setup that makes it very easy to remove virtually the entire setup from the front of the truck in just minutes. I priced one about six years ago. The updated setup for my truck (92'F-250) cost around $650.00 then. This way you get a "new plow" type rig without paying approx $3,500.00 for the entire setup.
I have a welder at my shop. I have converted several of my rigs over. My Meyer plow started on a 82' Ranger. The, changed over to a 83' F-100. Lastly, it is now mounted to my 92' F-250. I do not have the updated bracket. It is the original. I converted one of my Western rigs from a Chevy blazer to a F-700. Just some thoughts. Jake.
