Used them and the best lace ups are the type you get at the physical therapy or Orthopedic clinic places. Costly at $30 - $50, but much better than ones available in stores.
I've had braces on my leg and am currently wearing one on my arm from a work injury. EBIs are the best, they are well designed, light weight, provide the best support and don't stick out as much to catch on stuff. Call 1-800-526-2579 and tell a rep. what you did to yourself, have your Drs. number handy so they can call them so he'll write the script out correctly. (mine didn't seem to have a clue) The local rep. was willing to come to my house for a fitting, but I met him so I could have the elbow brace a week early.
Had my share of ankle sprains playing BB, and tried all kinds of braces. I never found one that was comfortable, especially under the instep. Unless you're being paid to play, don't replace healing time with a brace. Maybe a high-top shoe with good ankle support?

I am just playing for fun. As for a good high top, I don't know that they make them anymore. Everywere I look the only ones I can find go about half way up the ankle. I have been trying to find a pair like the older ones that went an inch or two above the ankle, but am not having any luck with that.
I did find a brace that laced up. It was pretty comfortable and made a difference.
I agree with the lack of good high tops these days. I miss the old Reebok pump model. Maybe I'm showing my age, but BB shoes seemed to go downhill about the time all-white shoes went out of style. I only use BB shoes to play racquetball now.
Lace up ankle brace. The fit is easier to customize and adjust.
I could be way off base here, but as long as this wasn't a freakish accident, it might just be that your shoes are a bit too wide for your feet... At least with women's shoes, New Balance and Saucony seem to be a bit wider, Nike is more narrow, and Adidas gives me by far the best fit. I guess they're in between. For first season of cross country I had a pair of Sauconys and I rolled my ankle in EVERY RACE! Keep in mind we were running trails with roots and turns, so when I'd make a turn or try to avoid a root,my foot would slip. The next season I got Adidas Response shoes and that made all the difference in the world! I have some New Balance now because so many people said they were super comfortable and I can't stand them!
If you don't want to buy new shoes, try lacing up each eyelet, even the top one... if the fit of your shoe is indeed the problem, lacing them all the way up will help make them fit better.

I have been wearing the shoes for a few months now without a problem. I twisted when I came down and landed on another guys foot. Just landed wrong is all.
