Not sure what you mean by your neck is killing you, but if your neck is stiff or you cant easily touch your chin to your chest, I suggest seeing a doctor ASAP, those are symptoms associated with menningitis which can be very serious.
I tried the salt water thing, almost puked.
The only thing i find working is the chicken noodle soup.
I have some whiskey, could give that a try,. couldnt hurt.
Thanks for all the suggstiosn guys,
The salt water just takes a little getting used to.
I second the thoughts about being wary of strep throat. I know somebody that died from the complications that arose from the Strep virus infection. She had back problems and had been taking some heavy duty pain killers and never really felt the sore throat pain that should have tipped her off to how serious her condition was.
I once had a weird sore throat that felt like swallowing busted glass. The doctor had me crush and dissolve a couple acetimenophen in warm water and gargle w/ that. It did work. I've had several colds develop this winter, and I started on zinc lozenges right away. None of the colds developed fully.
I have in the past for both sore throats and coughing used a mixture of whiskey and honey. Mix about a tablespoon of honey with about a shot of bourbon and sip.
I think it's getting the alcohol down in there, one thing though, I reread the post and if your neck is killing your it could be swollen glands and that could be several things including mono, strep, among other things.
