Sore throat

What do you guys do when you have a really mean sore throat. I finally got the nasty cold, flu thats been going around here. I can hardly talk, head hurts , neck is killin me, and the throat is probably the worst.
Ive tried lotsa stuff, nothing works except for chicken noodle soup and lots of apple juice, but i cant eat and dtrink constantly, ya know?

Any good ideas?

Sounds weird but I get Listerine and gargle, let it run as far down your throat as you can and the next day my throat feels better.

I gargle with salt water same as above. Works for me to relieve pain and helps to kill bacteria/virus causing the pain.

A prescription dose of Ibuprophen (Motrin) will knock down on the inflammation. 600-800mg every four to six hours.

when i get sore throats, i go out and get some suckers, blow pops or tootsie pops, suck on them, the candy will coat your throat. not a cure, but it sure makes your throat feel better.

Zinc losanges work good for me. Anything that gets you swallowing more works too.

1st thing to do is see a doctor. You may have strep throat which can cause many issues down the road, believe me i know. I have esrd from strep throat because i was a big tuff guy and could handle a sore throat,LOL please get checked by a pro you may also have the flu, pneumonia or something even worse. It may be just a simple cold but get checked, the doc will prescribe something for a sore throat.

take care Jim

Gargling salt water is a good idea. Try it, it does help a little.

#1... I drink tea at the first sign that I might be coming down with something.
#2... I use Lysol wipes on all shared surfaces at work and at home (don't want to spread/catch anything I can kill with Lysol)
#3... Halls Defense work wonders
#4... Have any Everclear at home?? Take a shot of hard liquor... hard as in Everclear or Bacardi 151. I have a friend who claims he had strep throat (I tend to believe, but avoid). He took a few shots of Everclear, straight, and the next morning his throat was fine.
#5... Whine like a baby until you feel better. Hey, it helps to act pathetic when you feel pathetic...

Hot fluids. That and a shot of some hard liquor always helps.
