Question Hydrobooster upgrade?

This upgrade of ditching the vacuum booster and swapping to a hydrobooster seems be the up and coming thing. My question is, how specific does one need to get when looking for a hydrobooster? I know the bore size of the master cylinder is very important, but what sort of variants are there with hydro's? Such as, a hydro from a car vs. one from a truck. Would they generally perform the same?

Can anyone shed some light on this?

Get something that's bigger then what you need, on the farm we have a couple chev 3 tons with this type of setup, and it sucks **** as its not big enough for the loads we haul, and when you are hard on the brakes you wil either have brakes or Power steering, not both, but if you do do this i would get a sag pump as the ford ps pump suck.

So, mustange70, you're saying there is a difference between applications. Is it possible to get too large of one? For instance, a master cylinder needs to be matched to the calipers/drums being used. Too large of a master cylinder will actually hinder performance. I imagine too large of a hydro and too small of a pump would give similar results.

For my application, I'm sure that swapping to a sag pump and a hydro from a car would be like night and day anyway. So if I can scavenge one from a truck I'm guessing I'll be fine.

Off hand i don't the flow requirements of a hydro brake setup, but from my personal expierence its better to have a system a bit bigger than what you need, not to much as like you said it could hidden performance if its too big, I would use a sag pump for sure, but you would have to get a hold of someone who knows the specific's of a hydro brake setup to let you know what mc you would need.

But a sag pump, and a hydro brake setup up out of a large van would do fairly well (you might be able to score both things together if you are lucky).
