Good to see another join FTE! Welcome to the site.

You may not have the heated mirrors, as they were an option. First look at the mirrors themselves and see if they have the heater symbol on them in the upper outside corners. (the symbol will look like a few squigly lines just smaller than a dime size)

I know this is a WAY OLD THREAD...

Funny thread...I got a chuckle out of it actually...but I figured I'd add my $0.02...

For all those that say here is what the manual in MY '05 Excursion page 67 states...

"Heated outside mirrors (if equipped)

The main mirror glass is heated automatically to remove ice, mist and fog and activates when the vehicle is started.

Note: The mirrors may be hot to the touch but will not burn. This is a

normal condition.

Type A

The mirror heating elements aredesigned to operate regardless of
the geographic location of the
vehicle. There is no switch to turn
on, or other operator involvement
required other than to start the
vehicle."

Our other vehicle has heated mirrors and they are tied to the rear defrost and it is clearly stated as such in that vehicles manual...

My Ex manual upon reading it leads ME to believe they are ON all the time...and NO OPERATOR INVOLVEMENT REQUIRED...Apparently my '05 manual is WRONG???

This may help harleysidecar?...have you checked out your manual?...WELCOME to FTE!!!

Exactly! That little symbol on the mirror tells us that the mirror is hooked into the rear window defroster loop... The same symbol is on the rear window defroster button.

They aren't automatic according to the 04 wiring diagrams.. They are switched on with the rear defroster.. You can check fuses 104(40A) and fuse 9(20A) in the CJB to see if they are good..
