Hey everyone i need some help on telling me what gear ratio i have in an 88 1 ton 4wd that i have a chance to get a hold of, the axle code was i belive 86 (could of been 88 too), but the front axle is a dana 60 and the rear is a ford 10.25"
88 manual says Dana 60 is on F350/10.25 is on F250and F350. No code 86/88 listed- axle code on door jamb will be 3 digits for 4wd with limited slip (3rd digit is 2). B9 is 4.10 5300# axle; C9 is 6250# 3.55axle; 69 is 8250# 3.55 axle; none of the other codes appear to match 88/99 listed above See if you can find a tag on front and rear axle and post what is on tags.
I wish i could go check the truck out right now but its 3 hours south of me.
Anyway the truck is an 88 f-350 Crew cab for sure, and the front axle is a kingpin dana 60, and the rear is a 10.25" stereling, that is what i know for sure, now i know that the last number was either a 6 (which is what i'm pretty sure it is) or it could be an 8, it could be a B9, but i am fairly sure that its not a ls rear, so if possible could you check the other possible ratios with a 6 or 8 thats a non LS, thanks.
29 is 5300# 3.55; 39 is 6250# 3.55; 49 is 7400# 3.55; no 6's or 8's in last (2nd digit) location. Al 4.10 axle codes over 3800 end in 5. If you can see the tag the ratio is on tag.
