bybass switch

How hard is it to put in a by-pass switch to manully hheat the glo-plugs? 94 7.3 turbo

It is pretty easy. I have a 90 and should be the same as yours. My controller went bad. All I did was disconnect the white wire from the relay, tape it up, and run a new wire from the same terminal to a push button switch and then to a ground. The newer style relays are supposed to be very reliable, so there are pros and cons about the by pass. I wanted to control when they go on so I did it. I only use the gps about 3 or 4 times a week, instead of every time I start. They should last a long time. Also you should be using Motorcraft/beru gps. Less chance of bad tips. Good luck with it.

That diagram is for the older models. But you should check out the site. There is alot of good info there including pictures.The older relays have similar but different color wires. I saw it and got confused. Do a search. There were a few threads around nov. & dec. about this including one I started. PLC7.3 gave me the right colors for the wires and which one to work with. There is only one white wire and there should be a tag on the terminal that says "white wire only".

The relay is on a small box on the rear of the engine, with a relay on top that has alot of wires and a bent piece of metal connected to it.
