I saw an episode of I think it was "rides" where they showed Tim Allen's 56 Effie with the hemi motor in it. The truck is awesome, but they only showed about 1 minute of it on television. They showed him starting it and pulling it into a garage. I've been searching the web for articles on it or more pictures of the truck and can't find them. Any advise on where to get more info?
Lowr, he bought the truck at Barrett Jackson in 2004. It was a feature truck in either Classic Trucks or Custom Classic Trucks. I think it was Classic Trucks if memory serves. You could look in the back issues if you have any or try their website. http://www.classictrucksweb.com/ I remember it being a cover truck.
The January issue of Hot Rod has an article with a neat side by side pic with a stocker. The radical bodywork makes the truck look like a 3/4 sized '56.
Can't say I'm crazy about the results from my practical side... but it pokes at the artist in me. Different enough to be interesting. hotrod himmelberg
I got to see this truck 2 summers ago at the Sac Vintage Ford cruise. I liked it a lot, but it seemed almost undrivable. It has a huge engine with a rolling surge that I presume is because of the cam. It's more art than anything else. (signed jealous in Sacramento)
Sounds kind of like the 1000+ HP Vette they just finished on American Hotrod. Pretty neat to look at, but you couldn't dare drive it 50 miles unless a technician was sitting in the passenger seat tweaking the electronics so the thing wouldn't go lean and instantly burn up.
I remember on the show, Tim Allen got in it and started it up to pull into a garage space. He didn't let it run long because of the fear that the local police would come. The truck must be extremely loud. It sure looked nice, but a bit on the extremes. I'm just curious that there is nothing on the internet. I've done several searches and nothing comes up? No pics. I noticed he also has a "stocker" 53 I believe, that is forest green. That is a very nice truck also. Great restoration on it.
i didnt put two and two together, but i did see that pickup in the classic trucks magazine, and again in the Hot Tod one....i didnt look twice to see that it was the same one...and with exhaust tips like those, you have to at least say it LOOKS like it sounds loud...haha
