I believe that FICM flash upgrades would fall under the engine warranty, which is 5/100k. (somebody correct me if I'm wrong)

I sold my Predator for this reason . My truck is stock except

new flash is that good.

My truck is in the shop at this very moment getting its flash (hopefully), to remedy the, ahh, umm, rough idling...yeah, that's it. Actually my idle does surge a little bit while sitting in park in the driveway, even with the engine good and hot. Hopefully the flash will smooth it out.

Everyone keeps saying how great the new flash is, but they all seem to have an '03 model.

How is it for the '04?

I took my truck in for appointment this morning , talked to the tech that was actually going to do the work he told me that there has been probably 7 or 8 updates to the flash since Nov. 03 he gave it the once over - checked injector pressure the whole nine yards. Picked up the truck late and hooked to bike trailer and am leaving in the morning .

Uhuh, not for the 03 engine. There was a Dec 03 flash and nothing until Nov 04. That last one is a winner. The 04s had one more, I think.

pdbd-Have been busy too...haven't had time to read posts for a day or two (OK maybe 3). I am assuming at great risk of assumption that the predator only changes certain aspects of the factory tune. (ie timing/fueling) I could be off base with this thought but I'm sure one of the guru's will chime in on this one. If the flash is as good as what is being said about it and I have time to get it done prior to my trip I'll try to do it. My other vehicle is in the shop and my wife is currently driving the 350. OH MY GOD!! MY WIFE IS DRIVING MY 350!!

Actually I must admit she does real well with it.

From: Fort. Lauderdale FL,
I drive an 04 with a 10/03 build date and i have all the flashes except this latest Nov. one i have an apppointment next week to get it. Free manager told me to come in the morning and he would have me in and out in 1-2 hours. Told him that i was getting real poor milage since my last flash.. the lie o-meter before this flash at 70mph was in the 19-21 range true mpg was around 17-19 but now the lie-ometer says 14-16 and really only getting around 13-14. @ 70mph so he said that this might help. I know i didnt buy the truck for the mpg. its a truck if i wanted good mpg i would have bought a focus but still if i get the computer flashed and i loose 3-4 real mpg then i get kinda like gee what the heck.. well see. maybe this flash will help my intermitent hard shifts between 2-3 when empty.

I've got a potential "flash" question. My 04 used to "idle up" while in park after approx 30 sec. Upon pressing the brake pedal it would idle back down. The manual indicates this is normal as the higher idle is required to properly lubricate the upper end of the motor. Fair enough.
I just took my truck in for the 04B24 tranny update and now I notice it doesn't do the high idle thing anymore. I've also noticed a little less "umph" on take off (seat of the pants feel nothing scientific). The turbo spool up seems to require a little more gas pedal than before. It does idle and cruise smooth and the shifts are right on.
Have I been "flashed"?
The service manager didn't mention it and the paperwork doesn't indicate it (unless it's one of these service codes without description.
Thoughts?

I believe the dealer is required to put a flash update sticker in . Open your hood and see if its there . Should be right there on top of the radiator cover . I think ?

Nope. No Sticker. Does anyone know if Ford changed the time it takes before the engine "idles up"? Do 05's "idle up" while in park? I find it strange that all of sudden my truck doesn't do it anymore.

I believe that engine intake and exhaust temps have to be below certain thresholds before "fast idle" activates. If your truck's warmed up and it isn't cold enough outside, it might not activate.

The newest flash is great in my 04 EXC. Idles better, slightly improved mileage, and a more responsive pedal. Had previously been reflashed once since purchase in 2/04 and that one really sucked...literally lots of diesel and crappy throttle response. As far as the Predator goes, my understanding is that it "builds" its tune on top of what is in the truck when programmed. If this is the case then theoretically your perfromance tune would be better on top of a better stock tune. Some of you Predator guys correct me if I'm wrong.
