Smile NP203 Lock Contact Switch

Folks,
I posted this in the drivetrain forum, but had no response. I have a 77 F150 w/ NP203 Transfer case (full time 4WD). These trucks featured a simple spring loaded ball detent switch which turns on a light in the cab indicating when the front axle is locked to the rear (no differential between them). I have been looking high and low to find the actual switch that does this. It's a very simple switch with a spring loaded ball. As you have probably guessed mine is not working, and I would like to locate a different one. Just wondering if anyone had seen or found a place to get these. I have been looking at salvage (treasure) yards around here but have not happened upon one. I believe they are unique to the Ford NP203 trucks.
Thanks in advance.

Some of the aftermarket overdrive units use a switch like that. They may have an equivalent. Those manufacturers often used stock OEM components. One of those "why reinvent the wheel" type deals.

I've never seen such a thing on my 79 F150 with a 203. Cool idea though.

my 76 highboy has one, it lights the blue LOCK light that is on the bottom center of the dash, or it did until it stopped working, made a plug because it leaked
Ford does not have it anymore, I checked
I don't remember if it is NO or NC, both kinds are made, if you find a replacement that is wrong, the light will be on all of the time
also be sure to check that it is exactly the same length so it works but does not bind the shaft

I usually find 1 or 2 of these a year in the junkyards. They're tough to come by. But, I'd say the junkyards or ebay would be your best bet. Maybe posting an ad in the classifieds sectiond here will help one turn up for you also.

A reverse light switch from a T-18 sounds the same as what your want. Without seeing them I can't be sure. But might be worth a shot. I have a 77 F-250 2wd w/ T-18 and it has that switch.

I am fairly certain this is a NO switch. From quick diagnosis, the switch completes the circuit to ground when the TC is shifted to LOCK. I have not seen a T18 reverse switch, but will give it a look. Thanks for your posts.

I have the Ford part #, D2TZ7E440A, but can't find anyone that can locate it or an interchange
could you post a picture with the thread size and the length that the ball protrudes from the housing?
I used to work for a company that made similar switches, but need this info to ask, btw I don't have my switch anymore, just plugged the hole

I recently bought a 78 Camper Special with a 205 t-case. I found the Lock indicator you're talking about in my glove box. I guess my truck used to have a 203. I did find the wiring that it plugs into tucked under the dash, but I'm not sure how far the wires go. I guess it's possible that I could have the switch your talking about. I'll try to look tonight.
