Have had my 05 F350 4x4 cc for a month now. Does the turbo lag get better from a standing start? It reminds me of my old 97 before I put the banks in it. Seems to take forever to spool up?
1) give it a bit to loosen up and break in...
(mine was about 10K miles before it felt better !)
2) Look into a newer flash, the latest flash on my 03 helped the lag a bunch...
I agree with the lag. My '05 seems to take about .5 to .75 seconds to go after I step on the peddel. All the way up to 1500 miles currently, and hoping this gets a bit better... maybe the EGR is broken, need to check that lil bugger since I hear others have helped the lag fiddeling with it.
10k so far and no it hasn't gotten ay better. I have repeatedly been told that some trucks have the lag and some don't but one thing I know for sure is the SCMT removes it (at least it did on my last truck). It was worth putting it in just for that if nothing else!
Well, a turbo will have SOME lag... it's the nature of the beast...
so when I REALLY want to ensure there is no lag...
the ole left foot on the brake and right on the accelerator up to about 1500 rpms (or 2000 if REALLY in a hurry) eliminates ANY turbo lag...
then there's always 4 wheel drive to eliinate the wheel spin @ 2200 rpms Woo hooooooo !
Try taking off in tow-haul or seeing if your EGR solenoid plug has fell off. You'll lose a lot of that lag.
Ok now i'm more confused, the article tim pointed me to suggests unplugging to improve the lag, where Keith I think is suggesting that if the plug has fallen off it will cause the problem?

No they are saying "Fell Off" wink wink nudge nudge. I removed mine and it did help a lot. I don't really notice a turbo lag anymore. In some trucks the check engine light will come on but mostly those California trucks. Mine didn't come on but it is from Idaho.
Duh!, ok now I get it! I'm pretty sure that we have the same emmissions standards in BC as California, so I guess that indicates that I might get the check engine light. I will read the egr thread. Thanks guys!
