65 F100 F250 F350 and 66 F250 F350 four wheel drives and F350 2 wheel drives share a common box with variations. The backing plate mounts with four bolts to the old style flat firewall but still utilizes the new style front housing and connection to the round kick panel opening. These have a core all to them selves. but a short pipe 65 66 can be used with some extensions soldered on. Typically there will be the old style vent and pull on the drivers side and the new style v shaped vent with the round duct connection on the passengers.
65 66 f100 f250 two wheel drive and 66 F100 four wheel drive interchange. the firewall on these truck had a stamped area protruding into the engine compartment to fit the assembly.
Also note that the heater core till 72 is a replacment for 65 66.
I ran into the oddball things when i rebuilt a heater box for my 66 crew as it had a box that did not match up to any of the 61 through 66 boxes i had in stock. The cab i have was a canuck built 66 F250 4x4. The core is longer in the inlet piping and the heater box is made up of both 61 thru 64 and 65 66 parts.... a real conglomeration.
