please keep us updated on your progress as i am having the same problems. i have already replaced the tanks , fuel delivery mods, senders, complete tune up , map sensor, just bought a new fuel pressure regulator to be put in tomorrow on lunch break, and to top it all off i just dropped $1500.00 on a new long block today and it will be here on the 4th.mine is a 91 f250 with a 5.0
Well, the mechanic is saying it needs new fuel pumps. Man I am SO fed up with this truck. Im trying to sell it ($4500), and like 2 people want to come look at it, but they cant. I bought this truck for $4000, ended up putting new rear main, trans, oil pump, cap, rotor, plugs, wires, trans filter, brakes, and now this. Ive put over $4500 into this truck. Ive only had it 6 months, if that long. I want to sell it before something else breaking. Im loosing some hardcore money on this. Man I got raped. Im so fed up with this truck though. But oh well, ya cant win em all I guess. I want to sell this and get a new 3/4 ton. But who knows. If the fuel pumps are gonna cost over a grand, Ill be super pist, and Ill have a desision to make, either keep it and get a jeep, and use the ford just for work, and jeep for personal use. Or to take the rapejob and sell the truck for $4500 and get a new one. I just have to pratically give this truck away, but im scared something else will go out on it, like the motor, front end, or rear end (thats prolly the only things left to go out, if they do).
Anyway, hopefully this will solve the problem, I sure hope it will. But its gonna be expensive. Ive spent wayyyy to much money on this truck, I could have had ALOT newer truck for what I dumped into this truck, and I basically just put like 4 grand down the drain if I do sell it (i really want to sell it, but I hate to give that money away).
OH WELL. Life's a Biatch, and I guess its good that I learn these things while im young and 16, and not 25 and have a housepayment to make
Sorry for my ranting, Im just so fed up. OKAY I feel all better now, well maybe not. LOL
keep the faith man . i just went and smashed out the inside of my converter today and that seems to have done the trick but now that i have my power back my engine is rapping badly. good thing i went and bought a new one yesterday. now i just have to baby it till it comes in on tuesday and hope it dont go BOOM . and if it is your pumps then your only really looking at about 300-350 for both pumps ( fuel delivery moduels) if you do the work yourself.new converter will run ya about 200. good luck and keep us posted.

I've completly lost faith of this truck. I thought fords were built though? well not so with this one. I worked my dakota harder than this truck, and my dakota is still in tip top shape. Oh well. Lifes a BIA.
Im having the shop do, I dont have the patience nor time to do it myself, I just want to get it fixed and sell it, im so sick of this truck.
Next truck is going to be the cheapest NEW (chevy, ford, dodge) 3/4ton 4x4 ext cab with power windows and locks. IMO all manufactures (gm, dodge, ford) are the same, and just cost different, sure theres a little difference in them, but for the most part they will all do the same job, IMO. Chevy LS Ext cab, 4x4 is the cheapest so far, but I havent gotten a quote on dodge yet (i think itll be even cheaper). And with A-plan on ford, the f250 reg cab XLT, was EVEN MORE as a Chevy LS 2500 hdext Cab 4x4 Long bed without knowing anyone who works at gm.
Anyway, back on track, Kinda.... I just hope it isnt over like a grand to fix it, or im gonna be so pist and probablly just crash it into a tree and light it on fire cause I hate it so much (but I wont get insurance because its just PLPD on it), man im so pist at this truck right now LOL. Sad thing is that I never beat on it sense I got it. Im thinking maybe I should have driven it like an AHOLE and beat the livin snot out of it and it wouldnt have broke on me. Can you tell im upset about this truck? I FREAKING HATE IT. Nothing but a pos money pit! Ah well, I have bad luck. But like I said, im glad I learned now when im 16, rather than 25.
Man, sorry fellas, I just need to vent. So far, EVERY MONTH SENSE I GOT IT (6months), I put a GRAND into it EACH MONTH. And every 2 weeks something goes out on it. I need a truck to work (for my business), and this isnt cutting it. I never had the chance to put this truck to work because it was/is always in the shop, and my dakota is only a 2wd v6 and works harder than this, and has needed nothing but the usual brakes, plugs and wires, and oil and trans fluid change. ****es me off!

is their a sensor called PIP? the guy at autozone said that code came up. Then said something about a Stator and needing a Machine press... I really dont think it needs fuel pumps cause what are the odds of both going out at the same time?
I also got Code 624... decribed as "Electronic Pressure Control solenoid or driver circuit failure"... would that cause this to happen? and what is the fix? Tommarow morning I would like to call the shop I dont want to do the fuel pumps yet, because I really dont think its them. So what else could it possibly be, and what does "Electronic Pressure Control solenoid or driver circuit failure" mean has to be replaced?
You can check the fuel pressure. Borrow or buy a fuel pressure gauge from Advance Auto. At idle, you're pressure should read ~35PSI. Give it some throttle with your hand and see what happens to the pressure. This might determine the Fuel Pumps being a problem or the Fuel regulator being bad.
The EPC solenoid has to do with the AOD transmission I believe. I'm not an expert on transmissions, so I'm not sure how that works.
I know how it feels to be furious at the truck. I was getting 6-8MPG and believe me, I was NOT happy. I cured that, but I have a 'clicks instead of crank' problem....argh. Hope it's not the starter, lol .
The guy at the shop said he checked the pressure and it was low. Below 35. I hope he is right as long as it fixes the problem. Because if he put 2 new pumps in and it doesnt solve the problem, im gonna be even more P-ed off.
well the shop called, they said that they checked the pressure and now its fine. They cant figure the problem out, they said they've went over just about everything. Anything else it could be? Im going to tell them about the TPS and PIP sensor's tommarow morning. Anything else I should mention to them?
Thanks guys! I need to get this going.
The shop is sayin its my trans. I just had it rebuilt a few thousand miles ago, thank god it still has a warantee. But I didnt think the trans acting up would make my check engine light go on.
