BBK throttle body - 56 or 61mm?

I'm looking at ordering a new BBK TB when I order my Bassani exhaust system. I'm wondering what difference will there be between the 56mm and 61mm? I will be installing the full Bassani exhaust at the same time and will also purchase the cold air intake tube that mounts next to the radiator rather than on top. Other than that, engine is stock 302.

Thanks,

Jason

I would not go bigger than 56. The 61 is more for a 460 size engine and your motor isn't built enough for a 61. You will have much better response on the lower end with the 56. I had a 351W and I bought the 56 for it. I did a little research then and that's what I went with.

I have a 351 w, which size would be best for that with the Bassani exhaust exhaust?

even with the 351 stay with the 56mm. The 61mm is for forced air/nitrous/big block apps.
Big Daddy what fipk did you purchase ? I havent seen one that mounts to the radiator. Just curious

I think he's talking about the air intake tube that goes to the stock airbox. Check out this thread

Another reason for opting to go with the 56mm TB... the 61MM really requires that the upper intake plenum be CNC port matched to the new TB diameter before running it. The 56mm can be but its not as big a deal if its not.

Thanks for all the input! 56mm it is! The purchase has been approved by the financial committee (wife) so I'll be ordering everything in a month or so.

I guess changing the TB on a Speed Density ('92 CA) wouldn't be any help without an ECU remap, right?

Muckypaws,

It still allows greater flow into the engine and is helpful when balancing the engine out if exhaust improvements have been made. MAP sensor will love you for it.
