Cool Can't get a spark plug out

I can get the plug socket and ratchet with wobble joint on it but can't get the leverage needed to turn it. It's the plug on the passenger side against the firewall. Any tips or tricks you can give me to help out?

do like DcSkater602 said, but spray some penatraiting lube on the plug, the heat from the motor will suck the lube into the threds and help loosen the plug.If you can just use a normal plug socket on it,if the wobble joint slips youll break the plug, you just about have to climb up into engine compartment to get leverage on it.

That one is a little harder then the rest. If I recall, I used a reguler ratchet and socket without a wobble joint on it and got it out pretty easily. I also use a stepstool so I can get up there and into the engine compartment better.

JBronco method works for me but without a step stool I always keep a 5 gallon bucket to stand on. I have also wound up using 2 u-joints with 1 long extension and 1 med extention on a 3/8 ratchet.

I used to use one of those white plastic chairs - I got tired of the chair slipping on the driveway while I was working and causing me to bust a knuckle or a kneecap or something. It f'in hurts and you look like a fool too, when it happens. Five gallon plastic buckets do the same thing, I know by experience because I have used them too.

For safety's sake, use something with a rubber base that won't slide. I now use a cheap stepladder with rubber feet.

I got mine out with a regular ratchet with about a 2-3" extention, then I put a box-end wrench (long 1") on the ratchet handle to give lots of leverage. Or use a cheeter pipe.

I'm getting too old for that! What used to stop hurting the same day, now hurts for a week!

And have you ever had it happen, anyway? You are standing on your bucket or whatever, and struggling to get the spark plug out and then the bucket slips out from under you, and your legs are flailing around in the air looking for some solid ground while the back of your head hits the hood, leaving a nice bump, and your hands slip off of whatever they were on and scrape across the engine leaving bloody scratches all over your hands and arms that you have to explain for the rest of the week? And you don't wanna tell them what really happened!

Yea I been there...kinda the two times it has happened, I have been lucky that both times my belt buckle caught me so I was flailing my legs but not falling. Hmmmmm Gravity sucks! But I have cracked, scratched, and cut my hands and arms many times....Oh and burned em too. I did see once tho, I cant remember what they are called, but it is a system of platforms that you can set up around your vehicle to help get under the hood of the larger vehicles. Anyone know what they are? They had em on TRUCKS.

Just an idea, although I've never tried it, but how about those step that attach to the wheel, like RV's or campers have to reach the roof rack. It would only be good for the side but might still be worth it.
