I have a 1988 Clubwagon and one of the front brakes keeps sticking. It happens when you press the brake, it doesn't fully release. You can hear it rubbing against the rotor. Usually if I tap the brakes it will release again. Does anybody what could be causing this? I made sure to grease where the pads slide on the rotor assembly, but it didn't help?
I had a Dodge van that had sticking calipers and I was about to R&R the calipers, and found that the shaft that the brake pedal arm was mounted on, was rusted up because it had sat for a long period of time.
It was a real pain just to get the rod/bolt out, but once I did, I lubed it up and reinstalled it. No more problem.
another reason for brakes to "stick" is a bad hose, the interoir of the hose collapses and the fluid under pressure gets in but cannot get out. i lost a rotor to this. now i go with really high quality hoses, cheaper than rotors.
