swap meet tomorrow in cape giradaue(sp?), MO and i need to know what i should ask for original 55 f100 2wd parts. i looked up how much most of these parts cost NEW out of an LMC book
-solid front axle (all brake components attatched, pitman arm 89.99, drag link 119.95 , tie rod 59.95 , and of course hubs)
-front leaf springs 159.99-189.99
-8.8 rearend (not sure of the gears, out of a lincoln used just to roll)
-stock gastank 295.00(with half of a runningboard attatched-yes HALF)
-stock manual steering box 269.99
Wouldn't let the book prices, price those parts for you. It's not uncommon to spend as much rebuilding as buying repops, that's why repops are Avail. That is even true for sheetmetal if you have to pay someone competent to straighten it.
Wear parts are worth the least, like the steering box. Gas tanks notorious for needing liners. Don't know that 8.8's are that sought after, now if you had a 9" you might get $125.00
Price accordingly, take what the market will bear. Be glad if you find someone interested. Ask around, how many of us have boxes / garages of parts we can't use, can't seem to find a buyer for, and can't bear to throw away. Decide if you want to haul em back home and store em for another try later, or move on.

thanks for the advice. i listed the book price just so everyone could get a general idae of how much the new parts are. i want to sell these parts because i have replaced them all with updated stuff and i KNOW that someone out there wants to do a stock restore....plus is need some $$ and find a left fender
FWIW, I "sold" my spare straight axle for a case of Diet Pepsi and was happy to get it. I would hope to get that for either of the 2 stock steering boxes. I might get 20-25 for my extra gas tank, it's in pretty good shape.
My advice: price 'em to move (cheap to free). I'd rather get another Effie on the road than hang on to extra parts forever. My storage is somewhat limited so that is also a factor.
How do you find out about the swap meets?
I am in central Missouri, and would love to go to some, but have not found any (short of driving by one going on right at the moment).
i sold my steering box for $5! the front end was priced at $20 and the gastank at $5, but all i sold was the box.

i heard about it by word of mouth. i work at a body shop, i have classes at school for it, and one of my friends that has that same class also works at a different body shop...so news can travel a lil easier. also at this meet i got about 10 flyers.
f100 steering boxes are sought after by the "rat rod" crowd. They work great on Modifieds.... Usually sell on other boards for about $25-$50...depending on condition....
I spent two days at a swap meet trying to sell my similar stuff CHEAP. As I was leaving with it all still in the trailer, I talked a local used F100 parts dealer into letting me load onto his trailer. Oh well, I didn't have to pay landfill fees. Joe
One nice thing about those straight axles. When somebody hits you side-on at the axle, nothing moves much and your wheel makes a nice dinner-plate like divot in their grille (and engine compartment, depending on how fast they are going). You might get some sheet metal damage, but you may not even have to realign your front end after the accident.

ah, Cape Girardeau (I think that is the spelling) as you drive into town from I-55 you will see a sign that declares the town to be "the crossroads of the bootheel" if that doesn't sum it up nothing does. The town must have grown since I was there last if it now has a swap meet. The only thing I know about used parts is that they are worth what someone, anyone, is willing to pay. Sometimes that is nothing, sometimes loading them onto someone else's trailer has to be seen as a pretty good deal, although the rebar thing has promise. Wish I had known that yesterday when I poured the last concrete in front of the new shop!
