I already tried the "innie" style bottle cap hub caps for a F250 8 bolt rims. They are larger diameter and don't fit on the 5/5.5 rims. Anyone need a set of 4 bottle cap hub caps for 8 bolt F250, 61-66? I got em'!!
My larger caps are painted. I just changed the spindles -- wanted to keep original radius arms etc. Have had no major trouble, aside from the hub cap issue.
Once you change from manual to power brakes you can change the pedal ratio from 6:1 to 4:1. The pedal ratio is the total distance from the center of the brake pedal pivot point, to the center of the brake pedal pad, divided by the distance from the center of the brake pedal pivot point to the center of the master cylinder push rod hole. You can make this change because the power booster gives you help pressing on the pedal, and you no longer need the mechanical advantage of a high pedal ratio. See a diagram here:
You make this change by moving the hole for the master cylinder push rod down about 1". I made a bracket to lower the entire booster/ master cylinder down 1" but I dont think you have to do that. You may be able to use the play in the master cylinder push rod.
Now, the good news....Changing the pedal ratio reduces the total amount of movement at the end of the pedal you step on. This allows you to lower the pedal's resting position to level with the accelerator pedal and you won't hit the floor. Just like any new car! You will easily be able to move your foot from the gas to the brake without moving your leg. Enjoy.
