What is the biggest tire i can run in the rear of a dually without the tires rubbing, stock is a 235/85r16, would like to put 285/75r16's on but those tires have a one inch wider section with than the stock size tire, i'm not sure if they would rub, is there a spacer that can be placed in between the rims to avoid the tires rubbing.
i believe that the 255's are the widest you should go so that when you put a load in the back and the tires swell a little there is still clearance between the two......
With those big tires, I would suspect your brother might have trouble with traction in the snow.. The back of the truck will ride on top of the snow instead of pressing into it.. just IMO...
I had 265/75/16s on my dually with factory wheels. Went with new aluminum wheels, and guess what, the offset of the new wheels is an inch shorter, so I had to go with 235/85/16s.
The 265s I had on stock wheels were geolanders and they fit fine, even with a load on.
