I'm so confused

I have a 66 f100 reg bed with a 352ci motor the guage panel is the sweep kind with 2 guages on either side of speedo. The plug on cowl is rubber and there is now washer button above key. Now my prob is I just bought a 66 f-100 swb or so the title says. this truck has a 65 grill the cowl plug is metal and there is a washer button above key. the gas pedal is suspended on both trucks. the guage panel on the swb has a round speedo. and it is 6cyl as apposed to the 352.
I have been reading the posts and I'm more confused than ever. What do you experts think???

The 352 truck is or has the custom cab speedo the 6 banger has a regular
speedo . Does the 352 have side body chrome molding ? You may want to do
a search it should bring up a lot on a ( Custom cab )

P.S. Welcome to ( FTE ) !

Welcome to FTE!
Don't be confused. Ford didn't have their act all together when they customized these trucks.
Generally, the sweep speedometer is higher grade, as is the side molding, but you will see all sorts of combinations. Doesn't mean anything is wrong!

Enjoy your trucks. Glad you got two of them.
And, glad you joined us!

PS: I lived in Idaho Falls for awhile.

the 352 may have had side chrome at one time it does have chrome along front lip of rain gutter. the truck has a lot of bondo so dont know about the chrome. The 6 banger says custom cab on the door handles. I'm pretty sure its a 65 the vin is gone and has been replaced with a Washington st. id tag. thanks for the reply. I'm sure you will hear from me some more. I'm going to take the 352 out of the 66 and put it in the short box I think. The short box is very straight just a little cancer in bottom of doors and driver side floor pan. It will give me some practice before I start on my 53 f-1

Leroy....as to the cab....there are 3 ways to tell difference...the metal plates on the cowl(metal on 65 and earlier), The washer button above the ignition sw. is 65 setup. The gas pedal on 65 is bolted to floor, but the linkage setup as to the mounting bolt pattern on firewall is same ....the 65 pedal is bolted to the floor....there would at least be hooes underneath the cab easily visible from underside....I think there are nutplates welded to the floor....not positive as I havent looked at mine lately....but either way, there would be holes in floor...Have you wirebrushed the VIN number on the RH frame rail...its on topside, parallel with alternator approxamately when viewed from RH side looking across. The vin has 2 large stars on either end of it on the frame....you may need to wirebrush a bit on the frame from the wheelwell depending on the placement whether centered on the rail surface or not....1965 trucks production numbers run from 580,001 thru 732,000.
Since you say you believe it to be a 65, the vin should be be like F10D 123456....the D denotes 352 in 65, in 66 the code for the 352 is Y, plus the door tag on 65-6 is different....66 is narrow....bout 1" wide...65 and earlier is bout 1 1/2" wide(tall when on door)

I hope this clears things up.....if you need more help, give a holler.....
