I got a call from the head teacher at my daughters daycare today.. she fell off the swing set and BROKE HER ARM. I told my boss I had to get her. he said no way.. I then called his boss, who has 4 kids and got approved to take my break early and come back alittle late..I guess that it helps to have friends in low places... god it sucks to see my little girl in pain and their is not a thing that I can do about it...they said that she should be fine..she finally fell asleep a little while ago..
WHAT?!! Seriously disappointed???
Your Big Boss may be skating on legal thin ice.<o =""> </o><o =""></o>
I am an employer. I have many employees. Your Idiot Boss, by not allowing you to see your daughter in this situation, was quite possibly in violation of the FMLA (Family Medical Leave Act.) just to name one edict. The FMLA is a federal law that lets employees take time away from work, to handle certain family or medical needs. This is Human Resources 101. Your Big Boss should know this. He now too is an idiot.

haha I don't have any kids, and I didn't know it was that hard to see your kids in pain. now I feel bad for my parents :-p I hurt myself all the time! come to think of it, I did see my dad wince once, when a doctor was pulling pieces of water balloon out of my eye. I oughta go thank them.
I second that ! either a drive by or a drive over!!!
I hope your daughter is fine and Ive been down that road, tough place to be. Guess Ill be the again as my son starts Lacrosse this year!! I have a cool boss though anything for the family is cool and if you dont miss the whole day they wont dock ya!! Of course dont abuse it either...

To bad about the daughter, but on the bright side, kids heal quickly.
As for the boss, At least the Big Boss was willing to let you go get her. Personally if my job ever told me I couldn't go get my boy in a situation like that I would tell them to get bent and go anyway. My boy is my number 1 priority and I can always find another job.
my bosses are idiots as well, but they are smarter than to deny an employee the right to leave if the situation warrants it. I am not even the custodial parent of my 3 kids, but last summer my oldest boy(he's 9) fell off the monkey bars at sumer camp,of course he put his hands out to catch himself not knowing how to land to minimize the fall. he broke his left arm. well,my ex wife called me at work just to let me know what happened, and the boss handed me the phone(he carries a cordless around on the shop floor). he could tell by my voice something was wrong. after the ex was finished telling me about it,I handed the phone back and was going to go back to work. he asked if I needed to leave,I said not really,my son just broke his arm,but he is going to be ok.he floored me when he said "Ben,you go ahead and go be with him at the hospital,he needs you more than we do right now!!!" on a normal day he can't stand me enough to hardly say hi. he just gives me orders and that's it. And we were working 12 hour days ,and were about 2 weeks behind on air compressor orders. yeah,it hurt to see my boy sitting in the chair in pain when I got to the hospital, but you should have seen his face light up when I walked in!!! he started acting like it didn't hurt at all,and asking what kind of cast he could get. Of course he got one camoflouged to match the pictures he has seen of me when I was in the army dressed in my bdu's I was really surprised how well he handled the pain the whole time until his arm healed. not sure what he said to his mom,but he never complained once to me about it hurting, and he is usually very vocal when something hurts, almost to the point of being whiney
RocketScience is right on.
If this happened at my shop pos boss would be sent to training or be demoted.
Billy the Ladies man put FMLA in just for this reason.
Your company is opening the door for a lawsuit buy not knowing or following FMLA.
Danger Hillary might come down and take care of the problem herself !
Glad to here your daughter is going to be fine. I have 2 sons, ages 2 and 3, and i can't imagine what it would or will feel like when they do something like that. As for the job thing, i agree with pretty much everyone else. Your family is way more important than any job no matter what. Let us know how she is getting along with her arm as time goes by.
