Just got off the phone with a local NAPA. Everything is Moog and/or Dana. Odd, the NAPA I called earlier in the week only had Dana and TRW. Wouldn't you think they would have the same stuff?

Dana upper control arms/joint $62 ea
Moog, lower ball joint $39 ea
Moog outer tierod end $20 ea
Dana inner " " $29 ea

My stock control arm looks like it was made by TRW. I assumed it would be Ford stamped, but I saw a TRW on the arm.

I didn't even ask about warranties. Right now, I just have to get something on there, no matter what it is. The way this thing is riding, and sounding, is starting to weird me out. I may call them back this evening to get warranty info if I have time. My 2yr old son has a nasty cold right now and I'm sure the wife will be ready for a break from him when I get home.

This is not that bad of a price really....If I didn't get my parts at a discount this would be the way I'd go.

I got quotes for upper moogs @$79 and Lowers @$35 and rod ends @$30 a crack. Every where I went, I had to order them.

IMO, the McQuays are not that bad and carry lifetime warranties, and is what I just bought because it was on the shelf, I can work on my truck this weekend instead of waiting 4 days.

I got 110K mi and I've decided that I'm just going to do it and get it over with.

Blissfully keeping my Canadian friends employed!

I now have the means to write up a proper tech article....would any one be interested?

The NAPA I got those prices from have everything in stock. I tried to find all Moog stuff. I'll settle for half of it. Rich

Moog and TRW are both good. Lots of Ford parts are made by TRW. I'm not sure but I wouldn't be surprised if Moog makes some for Ford too. I'm not sure about McQuay as we don't seem to have them around here.
Super if you could do up an article on replacing ball joints that would be great. Take lots of pictures

Racerguy, are the Dana parts good stuff or no? Aren't they all Federal-Mogul stuff?

A tech article would be great..or would have been. I have never done any front end work and was a little bit leery of messing with such a vital componet. I have been searching for a decent enough price to have it done and never found one I could stomach after pricing the parts. The quotes I have been getting have all been $800-1000 for ball joints and alignment. The dude that works on my dad's work vans is going to do it Saturday for me. He is only charging me $100 to change the upper/arm and lower ball joints, shocks and new wheel bearings.
I'll get the tie-rod ends later as they apparently weren't bad when I had the stuff checked out at the dealership. I was just going to go ahead and do them at the same time....Actually, I may still have those done...I dunno?

Not a problem, I've a got a new Cannon S1IS that is just itching to be used

I'm not sure how I'll format it, I may make it into a word document, or I'll just paste it into this thread if it's not too big. Chances are it will be a word document.

I'm not too familiar with Dana parts other than diffs and u-joints etc. Those are good.
I don't think that Dana is with Federal Mogul but I can't find any info one way or the other. I found that Moog is a Federal Mogul company.

Well, I guess we'll know in a few thousand miles if the Dana parts are any good?

For a $100 I'll be happy to let somebody else do it..... I'll just clear some brush. Only about another acre to go.....

The Ford stock balljoints are very sloopy from the start. Are any of the name brands listed above( TRW, MOOG) any better as far as sloopy goes? Rich

Karenj, I have no idea to be honest. I will say this though, my stock control arms are TRW. If you read Racerguy's post above, he mentions that a lot of Ford parts are TRW and maybe even Moog. I'm just going to buy the premium brand stuff at NAPA, whether it be Moog or Dana or TRW. I'm just hoping for greasable parts this time instead of the sealed unit stuff from Ford.
