Remote Starters

Truckers,
I am currently in college in S.C., unfortunately Im a south florida guy and have trouble reminding myself to let the truck warm up in the cold weather. I have been interested in a remote starter for sometime now...
A couple of questions...
What are your recommendations as to what works best?Ive seen prices from $50- $200. I am strictly interested in the starting and not neccesarily all the accessories, unless they are reasonable. I know that some starters will replace the stock keykless entry and have it all on one push pad, that would be nice.

Also, I want to make sure it has a pretty good range, around 500 feet or more. Any expertise would help! I love this truck, best money i ever borrowed/spent! and i like the sporty, clean truck look. Gallery will be updated soon.

Remote Start info Part Number: 2W7Z-19G364-BA

The Ford remote start module is very good. Must purchase from Ford dealer and have it installed. 500 ft range on starting and over 100 ft for unlocking. Had it installed in my 04 xlt 4x4 scab. Works great here in New Hampshire. E-Mail me if you need details.

I have one of the remote starts (with alarm) from Ford. It's been flawless -- great range, too. But, it'll cost you upwards of $400+. I got mine for $550, packaged with a full window tint job. The Viper series is just as good. Search this forum for "remote." With a lot of cheap and not-so-cheap aftermarket remote starts, you'll have to get a spare key to put up under the dash, etc. The Ford version does not require this. And I'm not saying you have to spend money to get something good, but I'd get some recommendations from folks about particular off the shelf items. I would not recommend a self-install on such an item either. You're messing with wiring, computers, etc. Anything you break will not be covered by the warranty. Anything Ford does will be covered. Good luck.

I recently had a Valet remote starter installed for $300 at Trick Trucks. I already had factory keyless entry, so I only had them install the starter. It does require a spare key under the dash and it has a separate remote. I haven;t had any problems and I consider it money well spent.

Anyone know if there is a possible conflict between alarm/remote start and a tuner?

Afriend of mine has an E250 van that has the Ford remote start installed in it and has tuned it with a Superchips tuner. No problem with the remote start before or after tuning.
