Friday I am going to install one or the other. Was wondering if anyone has done the 5.6 with diodes, I like the idea of it without affecting the idle and love the extra pony's it gives the engine. Was wanting every ones experience with the 2 different mods.
I have a 5.6 with a momentary on switch attached to my 6 speed stickshift handle. Stock tuned engine otherwise. I've tried the 10k and it helped but not much. Now the 5.6....
Can you go any lower then the 5.6k or is that about all the lower you can go? It seems most people go with the 10k because they don't want the wild idle of the 5.6k? I asked this elsewhere a while back and no one ever told me. I don't care what my truck idles like, if it is that bad I can just put it on a switch so I can turn it off when I don't want it.
You can go as low as you dare! The clamp mod uses a 470k ohm - less than 10% of the resistance of a 5.6. However that jacks the HPOP pressure up to the moon so I don't recommend it. Blown o-rings and all that fun stuff.
After guages and a downpipe, this is mod will be a certainty for me. Has anyone tried a dual setup? Like with maybe a 3 position switch that goes from off to 10k to 5.6k?
Just curious as to whether there would be any advantages.
I am pretty sure a couple friends of mine have dial switches, just a **** where they can go as low as they want to, I know they can go low enough to kill the truck at idle, this is the same thing right? One of the diesel sites sells the kit, I think what you are really paying for is the switch.

Hey Kwikk, i have the 10K mod on a switch because i don't have any gauges yet.... do you think i would be safe with a 5.6K on w/ a monantary switch? like a 5-10 sec burst of speed? or do you think that would boost egt's too high?? I also have one of your napa setup's on there along with a stright exhuast w/ no cat. Thanks
I don't have guages either and pretty much the same intake and exhaust as you, so I can't really tell how hot things are getting. I avoid any more than two or three seconds as a rule of thumb until I get guages. I don't think you could overheat anything in that short of time, so go ahead. It's surprising how much more power it gives you. The switch is pretty much required due to the very rough idle.

Thanks kwikk.... i'm going to switch it out tomorrow and give it a shot, thanks again
I've read that the only benefit to a Tymar HPX is to smooth out the idle....Should this offset the 5.6k mod...? I currently have neither one. Was thinking of adding the 5.6k...then the HPX.
