Red face Headers?

Ok this sounds dumb but I have no clue what headers are or how they can be changed out to improve exhaust sound. Will somebody please explain this to me

Just go to YAHOO and type in the word "headers" and you will get alot of info. The short of it is headers replace the factory exhaust manifolds creating a less restrictive system freeing up horsepower. Long tube headers have a scavenging affect that pulls the exhaust pulses from the engine, much better for making low end torque. Shortie headers have less restrictions than the factory exhaust manifolds but don't have a scavenging affect but they will increase mid to upper range power.
