CCleaner.com, anybody ran this program ? A friend put it in my computer today. Mine was running real slow, runs a lot better now. I know very little about computers so I can't really answer any questions about it.
I have not ran that program, but I do recommend to load SpyBot Search and Destroy, keep your anti-virus up to date and consider a firewall program like Zone Alarm. I like Norton anti-virus, they offer a internet security bundle with anti-virus, firewall and privacy software.
Make sure you toss your cookies, and delet your temporary internet files on a regular basis(found under the tools / internet options in Internet Explorer).
Also defragment your hard drive regularly also.
You have to be careful when you use a cleaner like that. I went over to that site and read the specs on the program and it's scarey. It removes too much data. A long time ago I ran the clean out program that's included in my McAfee uninstaller program and it does something simular to ccleaner. It took out stuff I needed as well. Some cookies you need, like the one's that remember your home page in IE or who you are when you go to member sites like FTE. Also some programs store their uninstall files and info in the temp folder and as what happened to me was, it deleted some for programs I wanted to uninstall and it made it a lot harder to get them off my computer using a third party uninstaller. Also you have to be careful deleting any DLL's that the cleaner thinks are unused, there may be several programs using that DLL and deleting it will cause them to stop working, it might also stop windows from working. I wouldn't suggest anybody that is not computer savvey to use any of those cleaners. If your computer is running too slow there could be other reasons for it, like an almost full hard drive, a really fragmented hard drive, spyware, trojans, viruses and a bloated registry full of references to programs that are no longer on the drive. Run your scandisk, defrag, and if you have an antivirus program and spyware removers on your computer, run them.
