There aren't many, IF any snorkels made for these trucks even though most people off-road them. Becuase the guys that are make their own stuff based on what works for them and what they want it to look like. For running it into the toolbox on the contractor bed, how about using flexable exhaust tubing? If it is up inside your framerail there should be no way it would get crushed and it would flex with the frame/body/engine.

You guys are overlookng the obvious for the intake. Do what I did (am doing) and get a 5 or 6" cowl induction scoop. Use a riser on your intake that puts the air cleaner assembly up in the scoop and then put a K&N prefilter on. If you suck in water at that point you're up to your neck in it . . . literally . . . in which case you'll have much bigger problems to worry about.

But with a cowl hood if you hit the water too fast and get a wave over your hood, you're screwed. I hit some water yesterday that was only about mid grill deep, but got enough of a wave that it came all the way up my windshield. If I had a cowl I woulda been stuck.

In my own defense I hit it that fast since i was expecting some pretty nasty mud down there, wound up being fairly solid (or I just had enough wheel speed to keep me up)

ivan ive already thought of that but on a daily driver truck with a 10" lift a 6" cowl induction wont help the vision. these are all great ideas but ill probably use wickymustang's advice but instead use the harder plastic flexible hose like the stuff on your gutter down spout. that should be more durable. thanks for all the ideas, keep em comin.

How did you fab your exhaust extender? I have been considering doing that too as there are a few mud holes and stream crossing that I do where my exhaust pipe is under the water. A couple of times the rig almost stalled so I just stomped on it to keep the water from backing up the tailpipe.

Ivan I agree with you except in my case the snorkel at the top of my roof would be level with the cowl on your truck!!!

If you use a K&N Prefilter the water will not get into your intake. The purpose in raising the filter is so it's not submerged. I have so say that the cowl induction scoops look huge but they really have a minimal impact on your viewing space. Most of what you see on them from in the cab is an area where you'd just be looking at your hood anyway. They don't really get up into your line of site at all.

I too am going with dual smoke stacks, im going to use fenderwell exit headers and run my exhaust outside the frame straight back and up the back of the cab,use 4 inch chrome pipe up the back and rain flappers on the tips for added bling!!!....for a snorkle im going to use a combination of thinwall aluminum tubing and dryervent(where needed only), then run the snorkle between the frame where the exhaust was and up the back of the cab with the mushroom top like mentioned earlier.....then all my other vents(axle, tranny, etc...) will be run up high and fastened to the rear roll cage.....it would be cool to be able to drive through something where the water is almost to the windows without much worry.....next thing is to figure out a vented "dry box" to contain all electronics(ignition module, battery, V/R, etc)

gotta say it doesn't work that way I don't run any kinda snorkle but I do have the K&N prefilter, and a sorta kinda cowl induction scoop (actually a mopar prostock scoop with the front cut off, and turned around backwards. here in the first pic you can see where the air cleaner sits (the precleaner is not on it.

and this pic you can see what the hood looks like and after it looks like this I rarely even have to clean the precleaner.

and if you haven't gathered this is some really sloppy mud we run in so if it was gonna wash back over the scoop, and into the aircleaner mine would

Just got back from the police station some 16 year old kid just tried stealing my truck right out of the driveway. didnt know how to drive stick so he drove 5 blocks in 2nd gear, had to chase the little brat down in a 76 gremlin, when i got there smoke was pouring from the tranny.. he was just sitting in the cab trying to get it goin but i yanked him the hell outa there and tied him to my tube bumper with the winch line. the little *** hole blew the tranny(which was rebuilt last week). see there is more than one use for a winch.

That is about the best use for a winch I think Ihave heard in a long time only problem is I would have been tempted to drive him tothe cop shop still tied to the bumper even with the blown tranny (it's already blown so find some gear it will still move in, and go)
