Well I will shortly be replacing my cam position sensor. It acted up about
510 miles ago, now it's getting worse. I really haven't had any bad trouble
but I have a feeling it's going to get bad. I was driving along about 20 mph
on a rough dirt road, & the truck by itself accelerated to approx 30 real
damn fast & when I let off the accelerator it was idling terrible I thought it
might die, it didn't tho. So I drove alittle faster and it's been fine. Oh and
yesterday when i was coming home i was driving about 8 miles per hour
almost going to pull up in my drive (i always let it coast a little before i pull
in the carport) and it idle'd up to about 900 (when it was coasting, and the
tq was unlocked then I gave it a little throttle. parked it & it went back down
to 700. Can I find these cps's at a regular auto parts store?
From what I've read on this site, the cps is a dealer item. Most say to go to an International dealer because the part will be cheaper. Don't know about your cps causing that - not familiar with it - haven't had the problem yet.
hmm, well I geuss when I replace it I'll find out if it was just the cps causing
the surge or not? You might jinx me for sayn its the tps causing the surge j/k.
If it is the throttle position sensor I would have to replace the accelerator
pedal assembly right, b/c the sensor is built into the whole assembly, correct?
Yes. I just saw a site that had them for $90+- a couple. I can't remember where. Maybe someone else knows. I'm not even sure how much they are at a dealer.
i am hopefully going to win a bid on one from e-bay for 72.00 (cam position sensor).
I hope the part comes in soon b/c I have a feeling it's going to go out this week
sometime. And of coarse it will probably go out when I'm on the road, w/out a cell
phone, on my way to work, then I'll be late. It would be nice if it went out in the
driveway, like the water pump did lol.
