Same here. I have a Les Paul and a Marshall stack for that great southern rock sound.
Couldnt afford the Gibson myself, but am very happy with my ESP/LTD Viper, especially since I swapped out the neck EMG 81 for a 60......
And aint it amazing how a Marshall stack can make ANYTHING sound awesome!!!!!!!!!! ( well, except rap... no guitars anywayzzz... )
non kenny-g jazz, blues, classic rock (big catagory i guess), i used to like metallica but i'm so tired of them right now, i wish they'd stop playing them on the radio so much. Currently in my cd changer- CCR, rammstein, marcy playground, pink floyd, ac/dc, i forget the other 7
I like Country and some rock. My favorites are George Strait, Chris LeDoux, Clint Black, Trace Adkins, Montgomery Gentry, Dwight Yoakam, Willie, Waylon, Bocephus, and David Allan Coe. In rock, I listen to Skynyrd, CDB, AC/DC, and Aerosmith.
Depends on my mood. If I'm coming home from a long shift at work and want to relax, I could play "easy-listening" or even classical. If I'm feeling rambunctious, I can go with old rock and roll. If I'm REALLY obnoxious and looking for a fight, heavy metal works well. Of course afterwards I have to listen to Gospel or religious music to make amends! LOL!
I like almost all types of music when the mood is right. However, I have yet to find the mood for hip-hop, reggae, or techno music!
Bluegrass, first and foremost. I also like Celtic, and lately I've been getting into Swedish Folk music. I also am into Hungarian Gypsy music, and Gypsy Jazz (Django Reinhardt). Also, other REAL jazz, Big Band, Swing, older country (and some newer,) Classic Rock, Blues,Reggae and Classical. (Prefer Chopin, Mozart, Beethoven and Tchaikovsky, but like many others as well.) DON'T like: Rap, Hip Hop, Metal, Grunge, Punk, Soul, and most newer Pop, including that techno stuff. Not much into that Oriental polyphonic stuff either! I play guitar, mandolin, banjo, and am learning fiddle. If I pick up the bass and Dobro, I can be my own Blugrass band! -TD
That's a pretty darn decent station from what I've heard so far. If you like Americana type stuff like this, check out my friends The Nadas. They're a little more rock, but with a certain crunchy country dynamic. I think they just played some shows down your way (Texas) not long ago, although they're from here in Iowa.
If you get through that, and you're interested, check out www.towncriermusic.com . These guys are on the record label that the Nadas started (Authentic Records), although they are a little more modern alternative-rockish. I'm their road manager, which is a lot of fun, but surprisingly draining. I'm still spent from this weekend, and we only had two shows... fortunately, this weekend, they're in my town, so the traveling won't be tough :P.
Here are some bands that I like listening to, Black Sabbath, Deep Purple, KISS (w/makeup), Aerosmith (70's), Starz, Electric Light Orchestra, Doobie Brothers (w/o Michael McDonald), Motley Crue, Diamond Head, Saxon, Iron Maiden, Joe Perry Project, Rainbow, AC-DC, Metallica, Whitesnake, Ozzy Osbourne, UFO and some more of the 80's rock/metal bands.
