Hardcore metal, bluegrass, real jazz not the KennyG type stuff, blues and if i listen to any country it has to be old.The new stuff rates right up there with rap.I play drums so i like playing to a variety, except most popular, top 40 junk.
60's, 70's, some 80's and some 50's oldies.
Rock, Motown, C&W.
Cannot tolerate Rap; Bluegrass; Hip-Hop, Barry Manilow, or Neil Diamond!
If Barry Manilow or Neil Diamond is on, I will listen to ANYTHING else!
(Fingernails running down a blackboard sound better!!!)
Clapton, very little Led Zeppelin. . . I'll listen to.
Bluegrass, gospel, old country, non-boy-band new country, country swing, rock, southern rock, rock'n'roll, hard rock, some metal, and like y'all, no rap or hip-hop. I don't care too much for pop either.
I play guitar and dobro, and I like to stay well-rounded
On a Bach organ works kick right now
Throw in some Beethoven piano works and symphonies, anything Chopin, Liszt is good too. Bonuses go to pieces I'm working on, or have played, like the Polonaises, preludes, sonatas, etc.
As for pop music (which to me is anything written past about 1920):
Jimmy Buffet, Zeppelin, Skynyrd, and a sprinkling of a few modern bands.
I listen to music at different ends of the spectrum. The 6-disc changer in the Expy has (4) Metallica CD's and (2) Michelle Branch CD's in it. Not into rap music or C&W.
Anything HEAVY works... It HAS to have a band... ( no rap crap) crunchy guitars, and a real beat to it. Metallica is number one with me, Korn, Megadeath, Godsmack, Motorhead (Lemmy kicks butt!!) are great.
I also really enjoy Jazz (as was said before, real Jazz, not Kenny G junk!!), country (new and old) and can really get into some dirty gospel blues ( Blind boys from Alabama come to mind those boys WAIL, check em out!!) Southern rock also gets me going, so I guess I try to be diversified musically (except rap) I am also a new guitar player, so I am hoping to develop new appreciation for stuff I dont know much about ( except rap) did I mention I cant stand rap..?
Also, one of the BEST times I have had, a gal I dated took me to a Big band/swing club That was some high energy, get your blood flowing good times!!
