My '77 4x4 rides like a dump truck-empty. I realize that it is 28 years old, it is a truck, 31" tires, but it is a F150! I know putting on shocks may help a little bit, but I don't think they will that much. I just want a little softer ride. ANY suggestions? I tired of spilling my coffee every time I run over pebble.
get some aftermarket springs for it. some of the guys in the offroad forum claim that lifting their trucks with a quality aftermarket spring has imporoved the ride
rough ride is a product of stiff springs or bent shocks. Shocks don't hold up your truck unless they'er bent and won't let the spring do its job. The best way to soften your ride is to soften your springs either remove leafs in the rear or buy softer springs it will effect load capicity of the truck but it will give you that softer ride.Front coils will probably require replacement with softer ones
Thanks everyone for your replies. I work on new shocks first. I probably going with RS5000. Many milles down the road I plan on a lift kit, so I'll have to find one with a softer ride quality.
