K I am having issues. Been a long time since I pulled a tranny. I took the 7 bolts off that hold the bell housing to the back of the engine. Then I took the 1/2" bolts off that hold the clutch to the fly wheel. But it still doesn't come off. What am I missing? PS cab and front end is off so I can get to everything.
Did your bell housing break away a little from the engine? The transmission input shaft may be froze in the pilot bearing and it might take a little wiggling or prying to coax it out.
Yeah I can move it back about 1/4-3/8". Also what is the easiest way to lift this thing? How heavy is it? When I pry it back how far will it go before the shaft comes off and the tranny drops? Sorry bout all the questions but don't wanna screw anything up.
the tranny probably comes back 3 inches before its out of everything, then another inch or so before its clear of the housing. its pretty heavy, not impossible heavy, but make sure your prepared for it. its probably 150lbs. just dont drop it on yourself
it sounds like you missed a step or two if possible put the bolts for the block to bellhousing back in tighten a couple up put the pressure plater to fly wheel bolts back in now... put a jack under the tranny or hook your engine host to it to support it remove the rear mount and crossmemberthen remove the 4 big bolts that hold the tranny to the bellhousing now pull it back it should pop right out if its the 4spd truck tranny it will be tippy on a jack they weigh about 150+ pounds and are tall but short in lengthafter the tranny is out then you can pull the bellhousing the the clutch and pressure plate
tried pulling the tranny, still didn't work. Then tried pulling just the tranny with no bellhousing, still no go. I ended up pulling the engine and tranny together off the frame. Still need to get the tranny off though. I'll be getting some pry bars in a couple days.
