Question Help with instrument clusters????

Hi there

I am planning on doing a custom interor in my 81 Bronco this summer and I was wondering if most clusters will work as long as I can find the right wires to splice together?????

I know that most will not fit but I am planning on doing a custom dash (fiberglass) and I can make anything """"FIT""", but most of all will the speedo show the right speed. That is the most of my worries, the rest I can figure out something like aftermarkets but I want to find a really cool instrument cluster to start from.........

If you stay with a cable driven speedo that has the same cable connection at the back, that would leave the gear at the tranny end of the cable to "adjust". There's several different gears to use to get the correct speed shown.
Shouldn't be a problem unless you try something old like a pre 70s cluster that has the screw on cable connection.
AL.

Is there anybody that has tried this and is there anything that is going to be a pain in doing the wiring and such........

will be using a mech. oil and some of the guages but that only depends on which cluster I use..

You may have trouble with fuel Gage/sending unit compatibility. There are several different sending units with different operating values. So try to keep the fuel guage you use with it's mate(same year) in the gas tank.
