I was reading about the new aFe Stage 2 intake for the powerstroke. It supposedly gives you 114 Ft./lbs increase peak gain at 850 RPMs and 18 Hp peak gain. Check it out: http://www.afefilters.com/5410392.asp
Thats a crazy amount of money. I own the "old" AFE filter system. I'm happy with the performance, but $650 with the proguard filter is crazy. That being said, the next time I tear open my knuckles and drop one of those foolish clamps that hold the existing filter in place, I just might purchase one.
Its about time someone design an airbox that makes cleaning the filter easier. That alone is worth $275, maybe even $350 or so.
Finally the aftermarket gets in right with a 6.0 air cleaner.
However, the claimed perf. #'s and price make me puke.
Yes puke.
I will bet my SCMT that the air cleaner cannot make those #'s on a dyno.
i just called afe and they claim it 18 hp, 114 torque from the dyno. tomorrow i'm going to chat to the engineer to see if they can give me copies of the dyno graphs. then i'll think about the upgrade.
