I am looking to see if anyone has done a change out of the old C6 to the newer A4OD? I am wondering if it is possible and what all would be needed. Also is the speedo electric or cable on these units.

As far as I know the AOD was never offered with the diesle, but the A4OD was. I am looking at replacing the C6 with an overdrive. I am wondering what all is involved, I know that the 92/93 with the 7.3 had this trans available.
delontow, there is an AOD and E4OD. You can put the E4OD in your truck but it will be expensive. You will also need a control unit to shift the tranny like this one http://www.baumannengineering.com/tcs.htm.
The C-6 is a tough trans and not real expensive to rebuild, especially when compaired to the E4OD. Personally I'd go with a gear vendor overdrive.
Are looking for more speed? The e40d is your best option there but they are not as strong as the c6. You can beat the **** out of the c6 more than the e40d, all i am trying to say if you dont need the speed stick with and want a stronger tranny c6 is your option, more speed e4od, the AOD Is a **** ticket tranny I would not buy it.

I really dont tow anything real heavy, I just want the taller overdrive gearing, I already have 3.54 But would like the overdrive. I know that I will need a control unit, but is that all along with the harness or is there more?
