how will I know if a the slip yoke is going bad on my truck? I have a 99 f150, and as I have posted before there is a click or crack sound when coming to a stop or right at the point of downshift from second to first (automatic). Ihad a mechanic tell me on saturday morning that he thinks its the transmission .Lets hope not, there is no slipping but always a click from second to first, If I turn the overdrive off on the gear stick , the click wont happen , it has never happened and i have tried it at least 50 times. Is it something electronic or something other than my transmission? Surely there is someone on here that knows. Ihave had u-joints replaced recently and still have the click.
I'm not sure but it appears your anxious for an answer. I doubt the click is from the slip yoke. Usually worn yokes create vibrations (they wear on the inside as well as the outside).
