I have a 2000 for ranger S-cab 4wd 3.0L i just bought some 15x8 rims i have some 31x10.50's wonderin if anyone had ever succeded in stuffing that size tire under a stock ranger
Yeah, those will fit. I have some 265-75-16's (about 32 inches) on my 98 4wd standard cab with no mods. They occasionally scrape the mud flaps, but only when reversing, but thats easily fixed by removing the mud flaps. The only real problem is if you have 3.73 gears, like I do, with the 3.0. The larger tires will make your truck about the slowest accelerating thing on the road. But it does actually improve the gas milage on highway trips (but it'll be a little lower around town). Also, if you have the 5-speed manual with 3.73 gears, I'm sure the larger tires are terrible on the clutch, altho I'm at 93,000 miles, 65,000 of which have been on the larger tires, and I've had no problems yet, and I do quite a bit of off-roading, which kills the clutch even more. Anyway, I'll shut up, thats probably more than you wanted to know.....
my dad has those tires (metric though) on his 2000 4x XLT with no rubbing. he doesn't do any offroading that is totally extreme. if you go to any reputable national tire chain or call a place like that and ask what is the largest size you can put on your truck, they'll tell you. they have charts that say the largest size that the vehicle's warranty will cover.
