First of where are these Husky tools made? Are they made by stanley? I picked up a Husky Microrough 72 tooth ratchet the other day at home depot to give it a try(I'm a craftsmen guy) and it is very impressive. I was suprised. What do you guys think of these tools? While I was there I also seen some ratching wrenches, I have been wanting but could never afford from craftsmen, etc and was wondering if there any good? Any opinions?
Made in USA, lifetime warranty. I have the large set of thier metric combination wrenchs, the polished ones. I also have a simalar set in SAE sizes from Snap-On. There is very little differance in them, plus it's a lot easier to find a dealer if you need a warranty exchange. The price is very good also. I have had them about 2 years so far with no complaints.
My wrench set has the USA stamp on them, but as I said they are a few years old. I will have to check next time I'm at the Depot and see how they are marked now.
I just Googled this post on the subject up that is pretty interresting.
I'm sorry to report that you are correct. I just got back from the Depot and none of the mechanics tools in stock were made in the USA like my older ones.
They were a very good buy with the 15 pc sets priced at about $89.00. I had planned to buy the SAE set because my Snap-ons have shorter handles. Maybe I can find some still in stock somewhere.
I contacted Home Depot by email after looking at their online catalog and seeing the 15 pc polished combination wrench sets still listed. They did not have these in the store yesterday when I was there. In my email I ask if this set was still made in the USA and they prommptly replied that it was. I went ahead and ordered the SAE set.
If there is a particular item that you are interrested in and would prefer the made in the US version you might try contacting them through their web site. It will cost you more than an in store purchase because you will have to pay both shipping and tax, but in this case it is still a pretty good deal.
A few complaints about taking the tool production off shore wouldn't hurt either.
