hi guys.
im swapping a 460 into a f150, circa 86,short,stepside. a little info might save some hassles. 1. can a lockup converter be installed in a c6, and if so, is it worth the the trouble and expense for the milage gain 2. i have the hooker hedders that are supposed to be
designed for this swap. will the eng, go in with hedders attached, and if not, do they need to go in from the bottom or top??? also, do i need to install the starter before the hedders go on or can i do it later??
thanks for any info
dan
Your headers will have to be installed after the swap and will go in best from the bottom...the starter should be no problem if the headers are designed correctly...but, I've got Thorley headers and have plenty of room to replace my starter without removing the header...a friend of mine has some hookers and cannot get his starter out without removing the headers...
No on the lockup convertor. It is not a self contained unit. It needs oil pressure from the tranny to lockup and the tranny has to have this oil source plus the solenoid to activate it.
