Have a F350 1985 7.3L gas engine (210K miles total, 100K miles on this engine).
Has been running great -- but Monday my wife showed up with it and the headlights and accessories were not working well. Acted like voltage was low, but engine ran great at the same time (vs. bogging down, like a bad alternator).
Think it's the voltage regulator? Chilton's is being not much help....

Does it start ok? If it does, then I would say you have a problem in your wiring (or a connector) for your accessories. If your battery is not charging, then it wouldn't start ok.
check batt voltage with engine running it should be about 14.7 volts turrn everything on it should level out at 14.7 if that works its not the charging system look at the bulk head connector
Sorry -- I wasn't clear. After we turned it off on Monday, it wouldn't start again. Tried to jump start it today, but no luck (couldn't even get the voltage up to where the stereo would work, although lamps, etc. worked when the jumper cables were connected).
Battery is 24 months old.
Left the jumpers on for about 30 minutes, but couldn't get it to even turn over.
Bad battery, yes they can go completley south all of a sudden.
bad starter or starter solenoid. if there is a dead short in one of these that would explain why you cant get the battery to charge.. it is discharging as fast as you can charge it.
bad ground cable.... do the lights, guages, & radio all work with the key in the ACC. position and then when you try to start it you loose all power? if so, check your battery ground cable first, then the starter solenoid, then the starter.
