Firewall cleanup - too many wires!

My 52 F-1 FI is out of the 1990 Lincoln donor car and has wiring all over the place. Right now it goes thru the firewall where the old voltage regulator used to be. Yuck.

What is the consensus of y'all about feeding all the wiring into the cab right behind the engine with a good sized hole and grommet so the wiring is mostly unseen? I'm even thinking about moving the MAP sensor, voltage regulator and the starting solenoid inside the cab with the computer. Is this a good or bad idea?

If anyone has done this and has pictures that would be great.

I'm all eyes and ears, guys and gals.

I am doing a similar thing with my truck build #1, bulk of the wiring harness is going to enter the cab behind the engine.

I am moving the PCM into the cab but I like to keep electrical or mechanical parts that may need replacement where I can get to them without too much trouble. Your truck your call, that is the fun of building it yourself.

You can relocate the PCM into the passenger side kick panel and run your harness through your firewall. Use the alternator out of the donor car, this will eliminate the regulator. Mount the starter soleniod on the frame by the starter. Then make a pattern with poster board of your firewall, take it to a local steel house and have them cut the template out of 20 guage. You now have a cover for your firewall. Space it out about 1/2" and bolt it up. It hides everything that you want hidden and cost about $25.00 to do.

I installed pcm between the bucket seats of my 48 and installed the harness for it up thru floorboard. The engine wiring runs along inner fender panel into kick panel. No wires thru firewall.

Under hood wiring on 52 F-1

I have all the wiring done under the hood except running the light wires along the left inner fender panel on my 52. I taped the wires in bundles lightly as I went along and about the time I thought I had all of them going in one loom I would come up with one more wire that needed to go in that loom. When I finally ran out of all the wires I re-tied them, took all the slack out, placed them in split-wire looms and wrapped them with self-fusing Silicone Tape from Del City (www.delcity.net)which will take up to 500°F. The tape comes in red or black and sets up in 24 hrs. after installed. I tried the best electrical tape I could find first and the 100+ Texas heat was enough do most of it in after time.
