Egr valve
Can someone tell me why egr valve keeps going bad in 2004 F250 ? I have been towed three times for this problem.Truck now has 15k miles on it.I drive about 9-10 miles to work each day could this be a problem ?

Go to the tech folder in the sticky section at the begining of the 6.0 forum. There you can read up on many things...specifically the cancerous wart of an EGR Valve.
Mine accidently became unplugged over 10,000 miles ago.
There is a lot to read so get the beverage of your choice, grab a couple of hours, and read on.
Then feel free to come back with any questions and we will be happy to enlighten you.

My 2004 F-350 CC 4x4 DRW has had the same problem. And I too only have 13,000 miles on the truck
I too drive between 5 and 7 miles back and forth to work in very cold temps. I was told that this cold affect the EGR valve since it never really gets up to full temp. When they pulled the first one out it was covered with black soot and allot of carbon.
I have had mine replaced twice and then they told me to try running a fuel additive like Staynadyne or any other type that increase's the cetane level in the fuel. I run additve now on every other tank of fuel and have not had any more problems.
