Differential Lube

I had my rear differential changed at jiffy lube and i read that limited slips need a friction modifier added. Does jiffy lube automaticly add it or is it not needed?

It does need it and if your invoice doesn't show an additional charge for the additive, they probably didn't do it.

If you have a LS rear end, then you need the additive (depending on the oil they used). If you do not have a LS rear end, then the additive is not needed.

If your not getting any rearend "chatter" when going around turns on dry pavement, then I would hold off on putting in any more additive. Supposedly the Valvolone Durablend that (I'm assuming) they put in your truck's diff already contains the additive, however it's mostly a matter of degree. In other words, how much additive is needed depends on the condition of the clutch packs of each LS diff.

You actually want to use as little of the additive as necessary, since it's purpose is to reduce the limited slip characteristics of the rearend. Only use enough to make chatter go away.
